Protected And Conserved Areas

The African Continent holds up to 27% of the Global Biodiversity with several unique and diverse wildlands, species of wildlife. Up to 19% of the global endemic species are found within the continent. The interrelationship between the vast flora and fauna of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems is sustained by interdependence among the existing biotic and abiotic components. High population growth rates are increasing the pressure on Wildlife and Wildlands across Africa and the World.

Wildlife and wildlands play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity. Wildlands serve as habitats for a diverse array of plant and animal species, providing shelter, food, and breeding grounds not only for the vast ecosystems, but also the people adjacent to it. These ecosystems contribute to carbon sequestration and help mitigate climate change. However, human activities such as deforestation and urbanization pose significant threats to these environments, leading to habitat loss and fragmentation. Conservation efforts are essential to protect and restore wildlands, ensuring the survival of numerous species. Additionally, promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about the importance of preserving wildlife and woodlands are vital for fostering a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

Our focus takes on a holistic approach to understand, contextualize and expound on the shared relationship in wildlands, connection to people by incorporating conservation science-telling and storytelling components.

NatureWILD is redefining and reshaping the way we perceive the World, connecting the science of the WILD(ernesses) to real life stories and narratives of people and communities
